One solution would be a 5 gal plastic bucket from HD or Lowes.
Drill a 1/5 inch hole on two sides about 2 or 3 inches from the top.
Run a good naylon rope thru the holes - put a loop on one end at the bucket and thread the rope thru the loop until tight and centered
at top of bucket. Tie the rope to the awing end. Bunge card the bucket to the post. Fill the bucket with WATER. Easy to empty and stow away. Do Not tie the rope to the bail, not strong enough. This gives about 80lbs of weight to hold the awing down from moderate winds.
