I would pull on to the blocks first, then level. I'm not 100% certain of the HWH leveling algorithm, but I suspect manually raising, then doing auto level would simply raise the rear to match- I don't think it is programmed to lower on auto, just raise.
You could raise, then fully retract and auto level if needed.
