8.8kw-h battery pack...let's say 7kw-h usable.
Air/Con and a few other minor loads...around 1.4kw, so about 5hr before the battery pack is dead. Assuming it's not too hot out and the air/con cycles...might be good for 10hr which is a viable number for overnight use.
A few questions:
- For frequent use, how much does an extra cycle wear on the batteries?
- How much fuel does the engine use while charging with a 3.3kw charger driven by a 68kw gas engine?
- Does the Prius start the engine at night with no on around if the batteries get low? Are there safety concerns if it does?
Not knocking the idea. If you have a PEV, it makes sense just curious about the complications and unexpected costs.
