Well that is good news that at least some plugs don't use the thingy in all applications. Perhaps that is why it is screwed on, so it can be removed.
The inside of the ignition coil that goes on top of the plug has a small brass looking tube in the middle that is too small for the usual bulby thingy and it is not threaded inside. (The thingy was not jammed in there as I first suspected.) OTOH I can't tell if it makes good contact with the terminal.
I hope Hyundai can clarify all that for me.
I have the manual for it. The specs for this thing say 65 at 7 metres, so that should be fun to listen to if I ever get it going! It is enclosed, so I don't know why it has such a loud spec. We'll see. (Anybody have one or heard one in real life?)
It says the overload will pop at 100W over spec. Its rated output power is 2.2 Kw. No mention of VA. OTOH, their 1000i (not too clear on Si vs i ) is rated 0.9 Kw. Confusing. We'll just have to see how it works--if ever :)
Thanks, guys.
