But I just get a Reese Towpower Compact brake controller brake controller
So far so good. I don't tow much but needed something inexpensive and quick to install in my '85 Ford diesel. Instructions were great; very clear and concise. I dragged a heavy, fully loaded horse trailer over the Sierra mountains with this installed no problems. My steering column gets HOT and I was worried it would fry this module when mounted to the column, so far no problems. No idea how long it will last but it's doing great so far!

I haven't seen the Ford manual, but if it is anything like the "manual" that came with my 2016 Tacoma, you need a manual to find anything in the manual. Seven individual books, many hundreds of pages, 80% or so appears to be lawyer written "cover our butts".

I wonder if your printed manual is the same as online. I may have missed it, but the information must be in a different place. Page 274

You are right. the link you gave doesn't seem to tell about setting electric, or Electric over hydraulic on that page. But I in my endless wisdom and not to mention my boredom. found it on page 123 of the same book. Under information displays. Setting. Then in the block. trailer Brake mode.


Also Found this on another on line site. I googled Ford Brake controller settings. Clicked on Towing. Here is what it looks like on the page that came up

The Ford trailer brake controller has been verified to be compatible with ... The gain setting adjusts the trailer brake controller for the specific towing condition.

The Ford IBC works great and always has. Ford continues to improve it all the time also.

Lots of neat features built into the Ford factory brake controller. My '15 F-150 allows me to name and save settings for different trailers. I plug in the trailer and on the dash it will ask what trailer I want and then the preselected settings are used. A bit overkill but does make it nice not having to make adjustments between trailers.
