An interest in learning celestial navigation at age 12 led to an interest in Celestial Mechanics. My father politely informed me a profession involving Celestial Mechanics, paid less than a trash collector earns. Pretty much screwed up my professional interest in geology, meteorology, and volcanolgy. With regard to seismology I pouted and deferred to the Modified Mercalli Scale.
It took utter starvation to remove me out of college. That and a temper tantrum.
However,
Battery management is a lot simpler today than it was 10 or more years ago. The advent of the incredibly simple-to-use amp hour meter makes it all possible.
