I need a portable inverter. 1000 - 1250 Watts

A bit of a dilemna when boondocking and it's time for morning coffee....

I get up early most of the time, sometimes 5:30, but usually around 6. I like to make a coffee and sit in bed with the blinds open looking out at my surroundings while I sip at my wonderful brew.

Trouble is its too early to run my genny as I certainly don't want to make others within earshot upset.

Thinking of a decent size inverter for the task, one I would likely hard wire to the batteries and make some kind of plug in for it near my kitchen.

I have a 300W one that plugs into the 12V source plug and a 750W with alligator clips to the batteries but they are too small for the task.

Anyone have suggestions for a decent brand name that will run my Keurig coffee machine with a bit of room to spare?

You know what it's like, I'm not worth a ship until I've had my morning coffee, or 2, or 3!!

It's called "choice". :R The OP wasn't asking for non-electric alternatives and clearly prefers his Keurig brewed coffee, as is his choice, just as it's my choice to use a small 4-cup electric drip coffee maker. The only challenge BYU faces is finding a Keurig that will run on a 1000 watt inverter, which as he already stated is also his "choice". :W

I have one of those 1000 watt units, has worked well for going on two years. The extra cost is worth it to get rid of the horizontal lines on the TV I got with the MSW units.
BTW you can sign up for email alerts on when stuff goes on sale on the CT website, as mentioned these units come on sale often and the price is right.

I bought an Eliminator branded inverter because when on sale it was by far the best price out there for a 1000 watt PSW inverter I could buy locally right off the shelf and because it's PSW my 120 vac fans run just as they do on shore power, without squealing as they do when running on an MSW inverter. This is my second season with this inverter, works just fine even though I really need to upgrade from my single 8yr old G27 Interstate battery to a pair of GC-2s or G31s, which I'll likely now do next season.

Just get a coffee cone, and heat the water with a propane range. No electricity involved, and much more environment friendly than those Keurig cups.

Canadian tire has a Psw on sale this week for $179. I think it is 3000 watts.

The only PSW Canadian Tire sells is a 1000 watt model, all others are MSW. It can regularly be purchased on sale for $199 Cdn + tax so it's one of the best deals out there in the Canadian market.

My own CT Eliminator PSW Inverter (11 pics) easily runs my 4-cup 550 watt Cuisinart Coffee Maker, 650 watt toaster, DW's hair dryer on low, various 120 vac fans just fine but it would have to be an awfully small Keurig to run on anything less than a 2000 watt inverter and battery bank suitable for powering that inverter.

My wife's coffee maker for the trailer, a cheap single cup 'Noname' is 600 watts and seems to work fine off a vasic battery. If the fancy ones are 1700 watts then you're not only on the edge of the fuse rating for the a.c. plug the high current draws down a higher percentage of the battery for a given wattage (it gets increasingly inefficient at conversion) and you may need double batteries. Me I drink coke in the morning, friends I brew a pot on the propane stove.

  • Do you have the small hotel model under 1000 watts? Most Keurig is about 1700 watts.
  • I've been very happy with the Tripp-lite PV1250. Clean enough for the TV, chargers, etc. Heavy duty enough that starting the window A/C is so smooth that I have to check the kill a watt to make sure the compressor is running.
