I want one!
Hi All, 500 mile range loaded to 80,000 pounds. 30 minutes to recharge to 400 mile range. It may be self driving, too. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1113863_tesla-semi-500-mile-range-lowe...

Current cost of utility scale solar power is 5.0 to 6.6 cents per kWh and dropped 30 percent last year.

The assumed cost of diesel was $2.50 per gallon. Good luck finding that, at least in CA.
At the contract power auction last week solar hit an all time low of 1 cent per kilowatt hour...and is expected to continue to fall.
AND once again everyone totally ignores the small mere fact that the cost of acquiring electric is the SMALL part of ones power bill.
There is local, state, Fed taxes, distribution fees, service fees, and a bunch of other fees tacked onto my bill..
Big deal, right now my latest bill the pocos cost was $.07 per Kwhr but when you add up all of the fees and taxes it is nearly $.20 per Kwh..
I have a brother who is only 5 miles away but his electric is on a REA Coop (Rural Electric Co Op which was the "electrification project from way back in the early 1900s), pays DOUBLE what I pay..
So, last months bill was $80 for me would be $160 for my Brother..
Yack about all the "savings" but if or when every vehicle is electric, the cost will be even worse than dino fuel..
And that is ignoring the fact that generating and maintaining electrical power is not efficient, cheap, self sustaining OR "green"..
The only reason you might find it somewhat cheaper right now is the Gov has not found a way to impose ROAD TAXES on electric generation..
When they do, most likely it will be imposed unfairly and across the board for ALL electric grid users.
Road taxes in many US states are from $.50-$.90 per gallon..
To make a fair comparison you need to take in consideration the entire electric bill cost AND add in road use taxes.
Using only the electric generation cost and no taxes and fees nor road use taxes and electric looks great..
