I want valuable advice

I don't want to start another whole bunch of comments about off shore tires,RV vs. truck tires, bla bla bla.

I want to replace my trailer tires and want to know what brands you have had good luck with. I tow 9800 LB with a 2013 F-250 King Ranch.
I want to buy the best brand I can, but want to hear what has worked best for you. I would also like to know if you balance your tires. I have heard that it is not worth it. There seems to be very few really good brands. HELP

  • You give us ver little info - what size do you need? If you need 15" ST tires then the only reliable brand is Maxxis. If you use a 16" tire then a good quality truck tire.
Whether you like it or not, "off shore" or more specifically Chinese tires are notorious for failures. If you have a problem with that kind of information then by all means, buy the junk brand de jure tire that the tire store says is so great.
  • As unpopular this may be I have China tires, I believe they are Chinese....Goodride Tires installed by Discount tires back in 2012. I have two years of usage on date code of late 2011.

I inspect them often and had no problems. I am one of the few of these knockoff tires and plan to swap them out after 5 years. So far I am not disappointed.
  • On our Springdale, (which we traded about 6 weeks ago now), I replaced the original tires with Carlisle tires. They were RV tires. I have no clue where they were manufactured, and it really did not matter. We drove a lot of miles on those tires on 4 years and they sold with the camper and still looked good to me. The dealer we traded with thought so also.
  • Racefan, I was running BFG Commercial tires that I was pleased with load range E. BFG is owned by Michelin. They had over an 100,000 tire recall and mine were in that. Since I wanted to stick with a conventional tread tire, Michelin authorized LT XPS which has steel sidewalls. I had paid around $750 for the BFG and they were replaced with $1350 XPS mounted and balanced even trade. Had heard folks talking about Michelin but at the time that was a little too big a bite so I settled for the BFG. I was quite happy when they replaced them with the Michelin. Good Luck and Happy Camping.
  • Use a good tire rated for truck use (I can't comment I still have most of the stock tires) Yes get the tires balanced.

P.S. who spends a grand on tires then cheaps out on getting them balanced?
  • What size? What your towing with is pretty useless information for this question
  • I have Goodyear Marathon radials on my tandem axle boat trailer. By the date code on the tires they are over 10 years old. They have excellent tread, no cracks, and hold air very well.
I hear all the time that trailer tires should be replaced every 5 or 7 years or whatever. I hate to replace tires that still seem to be in fine shape and still serve their purpose well.
