Ice Maker

We are heading to Texas so I was checking over the motorhome didn't check the ice make because they told me they had checked it. I'm here in Texas and the ice maker doesn't work. I remove the outside cover and see a red wire cut a taped from a temp sensor and a white wire cut tape coming fron the water solinode. I found the old wire harness that they cut when they remove the unit and it show the red and white wire connected,,,can I just connect the two wires? We have a New Dimensions Dometic refer.

Ouch...$700! If it's any consolation, it might have been worth it, at least if it had actually worked when they were done. Firstly, there was a generation of these things where all the lines 'turned to dust' after just a couple of years. Mine did, so decided to repair it myself. The only way to do this on my rig was to remove the fridge. Who knew these things weighed 220#! :E My brother and co-worker on this project has never forgiven me and swears his back will never be the same!

Not sure about the cut wires, but could indeed be from the heat tape on the line that they didn't replace. If there are still electrical connections to the actual valve, that is probably the case.

I think probably that stoopid ice-maker caused me more problems over 12 years than anything else on the rig! Aggravating...but then again, happy hour without ice is just not happy hour!
