Insta-Matic IM7 fridge troubleshooting

I own an old reliable Allegro class A with an Insta-Matic IM7 fridge
it runs on 110V/propane "no 12V "

The fridge use to run great ......we moved for 2 years out of country and left the RV in storage

yesterday went to pick it up , parked it on our land and the fridge wont run on 110V ( we have 110V electricity )

I took a look at Mr.Bryant books but no troubleshooting in there .

I have 110V at the plugin cord but then ,what to verify ???

thanks

Dan

  • You need to CAREFULLY check and see if you have any heat in the heating element, Big vertical tube, covered with insulation and sheet metal.

If no. Troubleshooting begins. If yes there is lots of heat, refrigerator removal begins.

The heating element or thermostat or a connector are all suspects.

An OHMMETER check of the element will verify if it blew up and went open circuit.

If an ohmmeter says the heating element is good, the thermostat becomes suspect.
