INSTALL TILE TAKE UP CARPET

Laminate flooring is a synthetic product designed to roughly simulate the appearance of a wood floor. It consists of an upper plastic wear layer, a printed layer or in rare cases a hardwood veneer, and a substrate of synthetic material which is typically made from plastic impregnated wood pulp.

Advantages are the long wearing surface and consistency. Some people like the appearance and the endless choices of patterns and colors. It is much heavier than real wood which as far as I am concerned rules it out for RV use with travel in mind.

What the he!! Is laminate wood? I understand there is laminate and wood.

Laminate wood weighs a ton. No thanks. I try to keep the weight down especially for non-essentials.

Laminate wood is the way to go.

Tile is heavy so make sure your rig can handle it. Look into a "membrane" between the subfloor and tile mastic.

Professional advice, use LVT and direct glue. Damage a pc and simply remove and replace.

Mine has ceramic tile in the kitchen and bath and not a loose or cracked one in 80,000+ miles. I to am getting ready to remove the rest of the carpet and replace with laminate.

Pull up carpet, remove all staples and assorted bad things. Replace it with tile of some sort. As long as you have the required skills, it's just that simple.

I’m betting OP doesn’t mean ceramic tile.

Throw rugs are easy to use and clean.

Carpet removal only requires a utility knife, hammer and wonder bar. And a garbage can.

Replacing, agreed, I wouldn't ever consider actual ceramic or stone tile on any RV floor. However there are 100s if not 1000s of different patterns of quality snap lock floating plank flooring.

Benefits over tile. Cheaper (or quicker if diy than tile install)
Much lighter weight.
Virtually unaffected by vibration, flexing of the sub floor or temperature.
Just as waterproof and easy to clean as ceramic tile.
FAR easier to install. Only requires a tape measure, and the same utility knife.
Layout and cutting pieces is easier.
The only downsides are, you can't make it look like big square floor tile and it isn't quite as durable as tile. But it will stand up to decades of responsible use.
