Yes, it is all about camping situations and what you need to get by without having to "conserve" (meaning not do something you want to)
The main driver in my case is being able to do a 50-90 in the two hours gen time allowed, where 50-90 is enough AH to get by till the next day's gen time. (BC provincial parks 9-11am and 6-8pm gen time, only using the am slot--its dark by 6 when we ever use the parks)
Means using a good charging rate near 30% with true constant amps in bulk and staying up at high Vabs for the absorption stage. No regular converter does that profile, so no good to me.
I used Vector chargers instead, which do have that profile. Now I use these adjustable PowerMax units which can do the same as the Vectors, but also stay on when the batteries are done, so they can be converters too for when on shore power.
