Yes, it is all about camping situations and what you need to get by without having to "conserve" (meaning not do something you want to)
The main driver in my case is being able to do a 50-90 in the two hours gen time allowed, where 50-90 is enough AH to get by till the next day's gen time. (BC provincial parks 9-11am and 6-8pm gen time, only using the am slot--its dark by 6 when we ever use the parks)
Means using a good charging rate near 30% with true constant amps in bulk and staying up at high Vabs for the absorption stage. No regular converter does that profile, so no good to me.
I used Vector chargers instead, which do have that profile. Now I use these adjustable PowerMax units which can do the same as the Vectors, but also stay on when the batteries are done, so they can be converters too for when on shore power.
I will repeat part of my previous post. I think your post perfectly exemplifies what I was trying to say (because I have no idea what you posted or how to accomplish it).

Also, and more importantly, I don't have the expertise or equipment to set the dial exactly where it needs to be.
You need to remember that when it comes to specialized knowledge like this, most of us are dunces. It would not be worth the learning curve for most of us to be capable of it. And, if capable, confident.
As a Pharmacist, I have to remind myself regularly when talking to the lay public that I have to simplify, simplify, simplify. Very few have the education to follow the biochemical explanations I could give.
Remember, even brain surgery is simple if you know how to do it.
