Follow local NEC rules and codes EXACTLY when doing the job. The rules exist for your protection. If you ever have a fire and an unapproved circuit is "discovered" say adios to your insurance coverage.
The OP is talking about the garage of his TH. There is no such NEC requirement for this kind of work in a RV - nor is there a requirement for a permit.
But, I agree with the part about following the codes.
