People install subpanels to make it fool proof. This prevents users unfamiliar with the limits of running on battery/inverter from using items that would drain the battery. I think most DIY installs of an inverter/charger/TS go with the whole house and just know not to use certain items.

Many correct ways to do this. If you find a sub panel might have been better you can always reconfigure as needed. Less is better for now.
