Interesting parallel vs series video test

Nice video (boat related) on the effects of different types of shade on identical panels parrallel vs serial connections.

    Sometimes hard to find.

For panels with diodes - A diode for every 2 cell rows is a clue: A 4x9 array (common 12V panel) would have 2 diodes while a 6x10 array (common 24V panel) would have 3 diodes. The reason is simple since the junction box area would have the minimum additional wiring for the bypass diodes.

With a actual panel remove the junction box cover and count the diodes (or missing diode locations).
  • Good point.
