I find that people who find TV offensive are generally "channel flippers" and don't really know about the good shows that are on. There's quite a few good and really good shows on TV that well worth the watch. I don't have the patience for surfing channels so I take the time to find shows beforehand mostly by referral from friends and family. I then record those to DVR and ONLY watch those shows. If I didn't have a DVR, I would've cut the cord a long time ago.
Great shows IMO
1. Breaking Bad - this one is excellent
2. Game of Thrones
3. Boardwalk Empire
4. The Newsroom
5. House of Cards - Netflix only
6. Walking Dead - IMO the worst in this list but still good
