Interior Frig Fans

Is this one of those devices that are hit or miss, or do they really work?

Our frig works well, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to make it even more efficient.

Looking at a fan on eBay that has two small, 12vdc computer fans that mount on the aluminum fins on the back, interior of the frig.

  • We have the little blue fan and it seems to work pretty well. I figure anything that circulates the cold air inside can't hurt. I've looked at the fans that attach to the fins but haven't gone any further yet.

If you are refering to this...I installed one on our previous frig. It seemed to work...sure didn't hurt anything.

Note: ours was a slight challenge to install. I couldn't pull power from the interior light so I had to fish the wire down through the back of the frig.

Yup, that's the one we were looking at on eBay.
  • So, judging from responses so far this may be one of those hit or miss devices? Some folks seem to report some pretty dramatic improvements in frig performance. Noticed this eBay seller has sold almost 600 of these 12vdc fans.

Again, our frig is working fine. But, if I can make it more efficient then I'm thinking why not.

    Link?
Tried posting the link. Whenever a link has the "percent" symbol it errors when I try to post it. Not sure if the problem is my browser or rv.net.
  • I suppose they work. All you need is something to move the air around inside. We use the small fan that uses 2 D cells. Batteries last a long time. You wouldn't have to change batteries in the 12v model as long as you had easy access to 12v inside. Our batteries last about 5 months.
  • The best thing to do is not overload the fridge with too much stuff.
