Frig. fan install

I Think awhile back some one installed computer fans on the roof vent for the frig. How did you install and are they operated by a thermo. switch or just a toggle swt. to operate fans. If you have the info. please get back to me with it.would like to try the mod. thanks
  • RV Fridge mfgs. have their fans installed just above absorber coils controlled by a t-stat attached to right side fin on condenser.'
    Fan(s) center line mid-position.

This position helps 'pull' air up/across absorber coils and 'push' air thru condenser fins.
Baffles can also be used to help direct air flow.

Absorber coils are the large tubes that run diagonally just above bottom of fridge.
Condenser is set of cooling fins at very top of fridge

T-stat closes at 130*F fin temp and opens at 115*F fin temp

DC power to t-stat should have an in-line fuse...an on/off switch can also be installed
  • I think the real point here is to "draw" air in from the lower access door vents & "pull" air out of the compartment via the roof vent.

I would install fans in both areas to accomplish this. All fans either on a manual switch or Thermostat control.
  • I installed one among the piping inside the access door and plug it in when we get to a campsite with power. It blows UP thru the refer piping.

I would start by mounting one at the bottom with a switch inside to turn on when hot out.
