OK, You are trying to use the inverter as a whole house inverter which it's apparently not designed for. The inverter bonds it's output neutral to ground after the internal GFCI which diverts some of the neutral amps to ground and the GFCI faults. Yes I'm making an educated guess on how your inverter is designed.
All of the ground items are involved: battery, inverter and the shore cord ground. I'm assuming that your shore power does not trip a pedestal GFCI.
