Inverters

Planning a cross country trip. Would like to run a crock pot and a small 3cf Freezer on an invert-er. I have done my homework as to what size I need and decided to go with a 2000 what invert-er while i'm buying.(I know that it is more than i need) Most that I look at are rated 5000 watt but looking at reviews they are not putting that 2000 watts out. I don't want to put 4 or 5 hundred dollars into one. Any one with any experience in this please reply with your suggestions.

  • A 5-thousand watt inverter seems grossly larger than needed. People are running air conditioners on 2,000 or 3,000 watt inverters.

Are you sure that's not a typo?
  • If you don't want to put 4-5 hundred into a 5000 what invert-er, you're going to get a very low quality one.
