I never had any luck running a generator around here at public camp spots on the East side of the US. Seems like everywhere we go has generator run time restrictions. A couple of hours in the morning and maybe three hours in the later afternoon. Never after 8PM... This includes the Natl Forest sites around here... I did find a couple of Natl Forest areas that allowed the generator from 8AM to 8PM but never after 8PM...
We only use a small 2KW generator for three hours each day when allowed to re-charge our battery bank when needed... We beefed up our battery banks and run off the batteries then re-charge again the next morning when camping off the grid.
Out West and at DISPERSED camping sites seems like you can use one more often.
But yet I hear everyone buying generators haha...
