My kitchen faucet froze and cracked. Replaced with new one.My pump hammered like crazy.Company said it was a "green" faucet..conserve water use. Okay..bought and installed another one--Phoenix guarantees it is rv use..(I bought it from Amazon though for better $$) Have the same hammering issue but not quite as bad-but the water pulses out unless I turn bothe handles full force. So,is this a faucet issue (they are all advertised as washerless,quarter turn mechanisms), is my pump going to be harmed?Do I buy another faucet since I am now so experienced in installation? Or sell the camper..lol! P.S. we are never on city water--but it works just fine when I hook it up. Can someone suggest a different faucet to work with my pump--please not an accumulator-can't afford another repair...Janalee

Any household faucet will work. The only thing "RV" about a faucet is that it's usually cheap plastic.

I would have agreed completely until this experience..how come my old bathroom faucet works just fine but not the new kitchen faucet? The kitchen works well if you turn both faucets on at once to increase the reduced (restricted?) flow to a full force. Janalee

Look to see if there is a small washer looking restrictor. It is located in the aerator in the faucet spout.Removing it will allow for more water to flow and will reduce the cycling of the pump.

Indeed. Still, for future - there is no "RV faucets", people are right. They are same residential, with plastic guts and nipples. About 20-30% of faucets in Home Depot have plastic guts now. Growing deficit of raw materials, thanks to growing population of China and India.

Make and Model will help you/us search for that if needed.. Or just go to the web if Shurflo and look up document.

I am thinking that the OP is talking about cycling on and off as the pressure builds and shuts pump off and then back on as pressure reduces.

Although hammering is kind of off topic I find that during the winter, my water system will get some vibrating rattle from the pulsing pump, more than summer. Cold plastic v/s warm. Even with my expansion tank I get some.... I have Isolated the tubing in various places reduced some of the rattle but not all.

It might be advantageous for the OP to check his water pressure when the pump is running.

Depending on the pump the pressure should be over 20 but less than ??

Installing one of these expansion tanks will solve most hammering/pulsing problems.

Hammering pumps are common in RVs Does not necessarly indicate a malfunction, HOWEVER... (Will come back to this) Mine has gotten very loud from time to time epically if the tank is a tad low on water.. Then without explanation it will go dang near silent. (I really have to listen hard) And though I said it SEEMS to happen more if the tank is near empty.. It also happens with the tank is near overflowing.

NOW: I did find one cause one time.. A couple of screws had worked loose on the pump housing, This causes several issues, Running of pump when it should not, Strange pressure issues, and more... Tightening screws helped.

The fact you froze up, Means the pump may have been damaged in this manner.

ONE SYMPTOM.. When I watched the pump, it also SPRAYED water

For what it's worth, I've had several Phoenix branded faucets and they were junk grade at best! If it's one of the better brands of rv faucets it's really a sad situation.

By the way,the first company assured me there was nothing restrictive in it,so I really didn't give that part another thought..
And there are LOTS of "Green" eco friendly products out there..the first faucet was plainly labeled GREEN.
