Ok I got up there with a flat board and a level. It is pretty darn flat. The existing fan is a little smaller. Long hot day and I forget the measurement. Maybe an inch smaller.
Gap between roof and level is about 1/8 at sides of new fan, basically zero at sides of smaller old fan.
The new fan plastic flanges have a lip that keeps them from fitting a thin roof like mine. I can cut off the lip and have plastic flange - fiberglass roof - plastic flange. Or I can add some wood.
