IS QUALITY ASKING TOO MUCH?

I am in process of replacing my third plastic shore power access port. The thin flimsy hinge pin breaks off. As I consider all the plastic vent caps I have replaced and other plastics now yellowed with age I sure wish the company making these would take some pride in the product. I know it is possible to make good quality long lasting plastic. My house gutters, kayak and canoe all plastic and holding up nicely. With the exception of Airstrem most RV manufacturers, high end or low, use this same cheap plastic junk. Perhaps there is a busness opportunity for someone interested in quality plastics? I know they sell more if they are cheap and fail. Still is there no room for integrity and pride of workmanship?

  • I got tired of pulling out my power cord when I got home (I normally dry camp), so I installed a Marinco power inlet and unplug from the RV (instead of unplugging from the house). I find that the Marinco is nice and solid and well-built. Have you tried replacing your current with a different type?
  • as long as people buy cheap stuff they,ll keep making it. look at the poor quality of rv,s but there still selling them faster than they can make,m
  • Have we got to the point where it is all about profit and integrity is not part of the picture? It would appear that way. Yes, I can spray paint over the plastic to protect but really how much do we have to do to accomidate poor quality?
