Jam Nut for a 2001 F53 Chassis
SOLUTION FOUND
Iread adesctiption of metric nut that seemed tomatch my jam nut. Got the good old HFT's calipers out ant it was very close. Had to go to Oorchard Supply Hardware and sure enough,my jam nut fit the Mm14-2 bolt on the display. They had jam and standard nuts, the standard nut is a better fit, so Igot tthe nut and a washer to use until I find the encapsulated nut.
I have a 2002 Winebago Adventurer 32V with Versa Liner wheel covers. The wheels are 19.5", they have 5 hand holes and 8 lugs. The VIN indicates a stripped F-550 chassis the Manual indicates F53, is there a difference?
I lost a encapsulated Jam Nut and cannot find a part number or supplier for the jam nut. I just finished talking to Kathy at Dicor and she gave me the part number for a 14mm jam nut and my jam nuts are 9/16-13, not M14-1.5.
I do not have the model number of the liner as the rig is in storage 50 miles away. I do have the other jam nut from the rear wheel and it definitely does not have a metric thread.
I read somewhere that Ford changed the wheel stud size from SAE to Metric sometime within the 1999 to 2002 time frame. The jam nut is not OEM, it has a decorative chrome acorn cover with three straight line indents into the nut to hold the chrome cap in place. The outside measurement of the cover is 1.124", and 28.56mm.
I did try and find a 9/16-13 bolt yesterday but HD and Lowes carry 1/2 and 5/8 but not 9/16. I'll try a better source today but does anyone have and help?
