While helping a friend I noticed this,the jumper between the 2 batteries is much smaller than the ones for neg. and positive .Shouldn't they all be the same?
It doesn't look to me like that wire is being used to connect the batteries, it may be a wire for the brakes which bypasses a cutoff switch which I'd say is a good idea.
edit: sorry, at first I thought you meant the black wire.
