Almot good info on the wire length--I didn't know that. Don't have MC4.
So the Baja scenario does not seem to fit portable and there is lots of wind on a tilted up panel.
What I did here for longer term camping in one spot, was prop up the portable panels on the trailer roof pointing the right way after I parked, so it didn't matter which way I parked.
I was able to keep them in place despite high wind by using lots of bungee cords. The air-conditioner metal base makes a good anchor point and even has slots in it to take the bungee cord hooks. Also we have a cargo railing around the back of the roof which works as an anchor point.
