There is no need in "waterproof" controller - RV is not a boat, and nobody in his sound mind would use little known off-brand equipment on water where your life might depend on it. There are classes of water ingress protection, called IPX, IPX=3 or 4 means protection from rain. If there is no rating - then their "waterproof" doesn't tell a sh-t to me. IPX 7 means "submersible". I had a few items rated IPX 7 in wilderness kayaking trips, like GPS, flashlight, camera etc - it can be dropped in water without problem. This unit I saw on Amazon with IP66 in specs, which means - protection from dust and heavy water jets, if Amazon means what it says.
I plan to keep em and cut my 50' of wire with MC4 in half to plug into the panel's MC4 allowing the panel to be withing 25' of the controller/battery.
This is what they are for, those MC4 cables - for cutting them in half :). No kidding. Btw, there are many outfits that will will make MC4 cable in custom length, with both ends having connectors or only one.
