If you're going to be camping near the water (The Gulf, The Sea of Cortez) the salt air is going to be exceedingly corrosive. Several cans of heavy-duty silicone lube spray are a good buddy. Coat anything on the rig that is shiny or steel with the spray. I saturated the panels combing and boxes to seal them tight from the air. I speak with corroded experience on this point. Things get even worse in the tropics down on the mainland.
I could not STAND the snarly springy wire tangle of using "recommended" wire, so I went to Home Depot and purchased a length of 10 gauge extension cord cable and grafted it onto the regular cables. It's easy to do and a blessing with portable panels.
"GAS" does not mean "gasolina" as you may know. GAS means BUTANE sold in the "Planta de Gas". A gasolinera sells gasoline. I would seriously consider buying a 30 lb extra cylinder unless you're headed for the capes area where plantas de gas are more common. From Bahia concepcion to the plant north of Sta Rosalia is a 126 mile round trip and half the time I found them closed. Gas refrigerators seem to burn a lot more fuel down here and refilling tanks is a pain. Even in Las PeƱas, in Michoacan, the nearest gas plant is on the far side of Guacamayas, a sixty mile round trip. Trips to the gasolineras are a piece of cake in comparison.
I sure would consider fitting LED lamps in the most commonly used light fixtures in your rig. For me it would be the living room light and my bedside reading light. They are wonderful for conserving battery power.
TAKE DISTILLED WATER for the batteries. Purified water is not nearly pure enough for batteries and distilled water is extremely uncommon and outrageously priced.
Pemex PREMIUM gasoline is imported from the USA (red pump) and is SUPER SHELL gasoline direct from the PEMEX Shell Oil joint venture refinery in Deer Park Texas. In Baja California (the northern state) regular green pump MAGNA is also Shell gasoline, but in Baja California Sur, regular MAGNA and diesel are made in Mexico. Your generator will say thank you for sticking with USA refined gasoline.
Hope This Helps. All of this is neither gossip or rumor. It is cold, hard factual.
