Checking voltage in the mornings before you turn everything on is about as close as you'll get to resting voltage. You should be able to get an idea of when to run the generator from that. I would just figure out how you use per day and when you think you're near 50% (an amp-hour counter is good for this....shows usage), run the generator. How long will you be out boondocking again? You may have to set aside some time on occasion for a complete charge.
