Where there is rain there are puddles. Besides the cover to keep it dry from above, you need it up on blocks to keep it out of the puddles (also any extension cord connections along the way to the rig.)
In wind, the rain arrives sideways, so now you have "issues." I have not solved for that--I just ignore it and hope for the best. So far so good.
Don't put the gen under the trailer overhang (front or slides) since the gen exhaust can find its way into the rig--not good!--especially if there is any "breeze" (howling gale to non-RVers)
