Driving diesel cars for years, whenever I went to a state with mandatory attendants, they always wanted to pour gasoline in them.
First don't exaggerate some gasoline in diesel will destroy the engine.
In the past, when fuel additives were not available, truckers during winter would add couple gallons of gasoline to their tanks to prevent fuel gelling.
Than make it simple. Gas cans are red, diesel cans are blue or whatever.
Small diesel generators don't exist and even if you find one in acceptable size, that will be $$$$$
Yeah, some gasoline in the diesel fuel will be fine . . . if you are driving a WWII vintage vehicle. Modern diesels, including most built after, oh, 2005 or so, doesn't take much gasoline at all to cause the high pressure fuel pump to grind itself to death. When the HFPF fails in this fashion, the fuel pump, all the injectors, fuel filter head, the fuel tank, and every inch of fuel line must be scrapped and replaced with new because they will all be contaminated with tiny metal shavings that are all but impossible to clean out, and which will cause the whole thing to grind up again. Cheapest price I've ever seen for that job is well over $5,000, and I've seen 'em run to $15,000.
