Don, cat heaters are really cat meow. Even those unvented are still good, very little propane. I know about your bad experience with CO - only don't remember whether it was a cat heater or some other source.

+2C is a bit warmer than minus 12C. At +2C you can dress without (almost) heating the room, at minus 12C cold is coming from everywhere, must raise the room temperature at least above freezing.
