Keeping water out of revoltuon mh engine air intake

The air intake on Revolution MotorHomes is on the side of the coach about 6 ft up at rear of coach on drivers side.
The intake hose goes down to the air filter mounted on side of the frame.
Needless to say water gets to the filter and all the filters seem to be paper, and expensive. Stopping up the filter and possible some water into the engine.
Has anyone found a solution or seen one?
  • Ford v10s had the same type problem, with rain coming in the front and sucking up into the air cleaner. They made a replacement air intake for a while, but that is not available any more. My local mechanic used a plastic bottle to make a shield to go in front of the air intake, diverted the rainwater, and solved the problem. fastened in place with tiewraps.
