Warren Oil Company makes it, also Walmart and Amazon house branded oil. They all get excellent reviews from testing and comparisons.

All motor oil brands have to meet set standards nowadays. Hard to go wrong for your usage.

Good as any for 1k miles. But why spend extra for synthetic?

If it meets the current API test standards, you are good.

I decided to give it a shot in my car too. Can't go too far wrong at that price. Of course, at less than 1,000 miles/year, you might be able to get by with 3-In-One oil. :)

Meeting the api standard is mo big deal. It is a minimum standard. Any of thr popular brands far exceed that standard

After 15 months with the same Castrol 5W/30 the dipstick color was translucent but not opaque. Even though I live in Mexico the car gets smog checked mainly because it's a smart thing to do economy wise. 24 mph highway and the engine is 25 years old. I thought with the 3% max alcohol limit down here synthetic oil will somehow be better ?

Yes I took advantage of the peso devaluation. Costco pegged the price at 520 pesos. And the ATM exchange rate then was 24.42 for 1 dollar. Bought a chicken for 3 dollars but Costco since adjusted prices.

So thanks for the answers. I don't know what else I can do for a snoozing toad. I have 77 pages of sci fi novels loaded onto the Kindle and 49 pages of biographies and WW2 ,Pacific War history on the Nook. I am getting a load of Hazmat gear smuggled in in a couple of weeks and I can only hope I stay uninfected. There is a calamity in store for Mexico and it's going to be a challenge.

Walmart's SuperTech Full Synthetic is the required DEXOS certified for GM vehicles. $14.88 for a 5 gallon jug. I've been using it the wife's Traverse with no issues.
