Kwikee now by LCI

It seems that Lippert bought Kwikee from Power Gear and broke away from Stromberg Carlson.

If this has been discussed earlier, I must have been busy with the S&B remodel so please excuse my ignorance.

I don't think that it means anything to those of us with Kwikee steps and probably not to Power Gear or SC, it's just a puzzlement why the swapping around. Is Power Gera making a power step in their name or just the other stuff they have made for years.

I do not know their names but the two big middlemen/distributors for RV parts and accessories have merged and the 2015 catalog has a new format.

The only constant here is that our gas prices are higher than anywhere in the nation. Someone in Sacrament thinks there may be collusion in setting the prices here. How could he?

If Chris B is right and LCI remanufactures(reengineers) the Kwikee steps it may behoove us all to really care for the Kwikee steps we have.

    Coach Steps are now SCS.

I guess it is just a sign of our times(and days gone by) that someone starts and builds a great business selling a superior product and someone buys them out and lowers quality to help pay for the acquisition.

Coach and SCS are the same. They were purchased by LCI. So, there is only LCI and Kwikee now. I do not believe LCI will change the Kwikee way of production or quality. Doug

  • Industry insiders will not state, but the feeling is, since LCI Steps are JUNK, they purchased Kwikee to have just Kwikee and will drop the SCS/LCI/Coach step brand and models. SCS/Coach Steps were NOT junk until LCI purchased them and changed the way they are produced. We have replaced at least 20 LCI steps complete in the past 2 years from the failure of the large pivot bolt that is now welded to the top mount nut. Since it is welded and that large pivot bolt then breaks off you cannot fix the step---you have to replace it. Doug
