Landing gear question

Lately I have been experiencing a front landing gear on my 2006 Keystone Challenger and looking for information. The motor seemed to slip and grind a little like it was low battery power but would still work if you let it rest. I replaced the gears, gear case and motor and it appeared to work fine. Today I was raising the camper to attach the pickup and it sounded like the motor was straining to left the camper resembled low battery power again. I was raising the camper to lift off pickup and motor started to slip again. Now motor slips as it is being lowered. Battery voltage was reading 13.7 no load.

Looking for information as to possible solutions

  • I assume you have Venture Mfg landing gear, so I am going to tell you to contact them to order parts. While your at it convert to a dual motor setup. You wont regret it
  • I have 13.4 volts when the motor is switch on. Tried to use the hand crank and cannot get the system to move. I may have a problem inside the jack.
  • I have experienced your problems, I changed out the gears, and I changed out the motor. The motor has a slip clutch in it. Since I had two motors, I mounted one motor on each landing leg and added another switch. Now I can raise or lower each leg individually and there seems to be a lot less strain on the motor. Hope this helps, PM me if you need any advice.
