Leaking line at back of toilet

I recently bought a motorhome as a project to work on... everything is pretty decent condition it is a 1989.... However I have leak everytime I connect city water to the camper it leaks out the line coming up to the toilet connection.... I have tried tightening it but only get so far... any advice?
  • it looks as though its the connection right at the toiler. the hose comes up through the floor and connects like water tap to the back of the toilet. I always use pressure regulator because I know what it does to rv systems... this is unit #5 for me so you would think I would be a pro at it...however the simplest things can still stump me.
  • When mine did that, it was just a loose clamp where the sprayer hose connected to the toilet.
  • . Look for a split in the plastic tubing. Probably at the fittings but it could be anywhere along the tubing. Maybe, only leaks at high campground pressure.
  • Had a similar issue with our toilet, turned out to be two fold. The crimp on connector at the elbow down at the floor was broken. It would only leak with high pressure. It took some time to find that since every time I looked at it at home, it wouldn't leak. Water pressure at the house is lousy. I replaced the crimped connector with a shark bite 90 degree elbow.

Problem solved, well not really. After fixing that, I noticed water was still dripping onto the floor. It was a slow leak, enough to wet a hand towel after a day. Turned out to be the screw on fitting on the water inlet on the toilet. The factory didn't bother using any pipe tape. Pipe tape solved that problem.

    x2

    Edit: x3

Friend had that happen over labor day camping a few years ago... something about forgetting to winterize... wife was saying something about why do we even have this stupid truck camper if we have to hike to the restroom in the middle of the night... It happened two years in a row... she was not amused... especially since she drove truck up early to get good spot and had water all over inside after hooking up city water..

Thats what it was for me

  • Do you have a pressure regulator on the city water connection ?

    Pictures would help.
