This is a follow-up to my post on 6/27/2011. I wanted let anyone that is interested know that I had removed my O-Ring and believe that I have determined it's size. I found out that O-Rings come in specific sizes depending on the material used to make the O-Ring. The material must be able to handle ATF. According my measurements, my O-Ring is a #348 (ID: 4 3/8" CS: 3/16"). The O-Ring appears to be in perfect shape but it is was leaking none the less.
At this point, I have three option. I can replace with a new #348 or I can go to a #425 (ID: 4 1/2" CS: 1/4") which would be the next size up in thickness or I could use a quad ring version of the #348. At this point, I am leaning toward the quad ring as these rings are designed to provide twice the sealing surface area of a normal O-Ring. The design of this ring would also tend to prevent grit from getting under the entire ring which I believe is contributing to the leakage.
If anyone has any experience, thoughts, or ideas before I move forward, I would appreciate the feedback.
