Excellent! I don't advocate tossing servicable parts because of an "O" ring.

I've been having a run of oddball sized "O" rings. Not available in the normal kits and not even at some of the specialty seal companies.

I recently found a company that seems to have the oddball sizes, Martin Fluid Power.

I needed one in Phoenix recently; went through my kits, hardware stores, Sealing Devices, State Seal, Parker etc. and fortunately MFP has a store nearby which probably has everything I'll ever need.

Funny all of those calling a 16 year old fixture that leaks a little "garbage" which was fixed with a $.60 o-ring, :S

Yay, it's fixed! New o-ring did it.

Went to local Ace store. Nice guy took out the old one, matched it to a new one, and installed the new one. All for 60 cents!

Came home and put the spout back on and NO leaks! Didn't have to contort my old body to work under the counter, either. :B

Spare parts I ordered came in same day. Now I have a backup o-ring.

A few years ago, I rebuilt the faucets in my old Starcraft. They are 45 yrs old and operate perfectly.

That's a good strategy, esp since you don't want to crawl and contort to change it out!

When I got interested in replacing, I found it hard to get a high gooseneck that

1. Wasn't on 4-inch centers called a "bar faucet"

2. Was on the 8-inch centers we already had, but didn't need a third hole at the center, which we didn't have.

I bought one at Home Depot that I thought would replace, and give me some height under the aerator, only to find it really didn't have any more height than the old leaky one. That's when I became thankful for the Phoenix faucets at Amazon.

FYI, my cousin thought he'd need to replace the faucet in his fairly new fiver. Handle broke and wasn't available as a repair part. Luckily he was able to splint the break with something inside it, and epoxy it. Has held. I bring this up because I found that the stainless steel "drop sink" he has, presents a razor sharp steel edge, right where your hands'd be changing the faucet. I would have had to try and tape over it, or worse, try to work in gloves...

Thanks for the tips. I ordered a kit with spout parts, including an o-ring. I'll try the grease fix before the kit arrives.

Nothing more than replacing a common "O" ring available at just about any hardware store. I did mine twice, they get summer time hot and winter cold, not like in a stik & brik house. I don't know why the world is such a throw it out society when it can be repaired for less than a dollar.

Throw it in the garbage, buy a decent faucet at your favorite big box store and go happy.

The O-Ring is Suspect #1 yes, but there might be other reasons. But the O-Ring is suspect #1
