Leaky kitchen faucet

The kitchen faucet in my 2001 truck camper has started leaking slightly where the spout enters the faucet assembly base. I pulled the spout out and there is an o-ring near the end. Would this be the only reason for a leak, or might there be others? Could I get a replacement o-ring at my local hardware store?

There is a ring around the spout that tightens it down. I turned that until it was tight.

I rather not put in a new faucet, as my old body has a hard time getting into the required position to do it. :)

Thanks,

It's probably a Phoenix brand faucet. Available new on Amazon. They aren't industrial quality, but they fit right in. The big deal for me, was I could replace the "low arm" faucet that was leaking, with a "gooseneck" version that allows me to fill pitchers, thermos bottles, even the coffeemaker carafe, much more easily than before.

But, if you want to repair it, if a Big Box doesn't have the selection you need, one of the larger stores with an Ace or True Value franchise should. Sometimes easier there, to get a helpful employee to help you dig it out. Phoenix isn't all that uncommon, so you should be able to get washers and O-Rings for the faucet capsules too. Or new capsules.

On ours, the Arm leak wasn't the only problem. Faucet in the vanity was dribbling at the aerator, so I ordered two new, matching ones and we're very pleased.
  • You may want to try a new oring and lube it with some silicone grease. If that doesn't stop it, some of the metal may be eroded to the point that it won't seal. Then you will need a new faucet.
  • Good luck finding a match. It would be easier to just replace the entire faucet. Any Lowe's or Home Depot has them, and they are usually all standard size. Double check, match the space between the holes in the sink, and any faucet can be replaced.
  • You might try putting a little plumbers grease on the o-ring. It's available in small containers any where you can get pipe and fittings.
