I happen to have a 38yo Honda E3500s. When I get done running it, I shut the (new) petcock on the tank and let it run a while. Then I shut if off and pull it up to a compression - This is to close both valves so the stems don't corrode (out of the Honda manual). Open the drain screw on the carburetor until it stops and then close it.
It is electric start and the garden tractor size battery has a tender. About every six months, I drain to fuel off into a can and replace it. The old fuel goes to the Gravelys. That way it always has relatively fresh fuel.
When I want it to run, I open the petcock - it went bad a few years back and I had a devil of a time replacing it (Plano Power Equipment had 1). turn the little key to the start position and it always does.
It is louder than the Onan BF4 in my coach, but it gets just as much care.
