Leave carb drain open on Honda gen in storage?

I'll probably be ridiculed for this but I didn't even know there was a carb drain on my EU2000 and I have no idea how to prime it. I use mine, turn it off, and stick it in the garage. When I need it, I pull it out, turn it on, give it a few pulls and away I go. Other than a chainsaw which sat for several years, I've never had an issue storing anything this way. I've never done anything special for weed eaters, generators, lawn mowers, boats, motorcycles, or cars.

Maybe we have magic gas in Idaho?
