I have installed two strips of the 5050 type non waterproof 12v LED lights into one of my Thin Lite fixtures.I really like the result except the entire fixture seemed to be very warm to the touch after being on for about 30 minutes.Is that normal?Should one install a resistor or some such thing in the power wire for these strips?

They do get very warm but wont burn you. Ballast resistors are built in but whats your supply voltage?

i've got one fixture with 3 strips of 21 ledsthe others have 2 strips of 21 leds for the 30w fixturesand 2 strips of 15 for the 18w fixturesmine get kinda warm but not hotneither the fixture nor the leds are as hot as when using the florescent tubeswe full time..so ours have seen daily use for about a month nowthe fixture is the heat sink for the led stripsi stuck mine directly to the fixture.. No foam tape

I put Buck DC-DC Adjustable Step Down Power Supplies on each of my LED fixtures. This stopped heat problem. Check voltage going to your fixture. If it is over 12.5 volts. Install one of these. I purchase mine off EBAY for much less than Amazon link above.

My have been in since April 2013, I have 2 strips, 4 strips and 5 strips in bathroom. Never a problem I removed everything from the fixture.

Hi,

Are you supposed to remove the ballast and connect the LED light bulb directly to the 12 volt power source, or still use the ballast and run them at the 1,000+ volts that the ballast can put out?

Just wondering?

And where did you get the bulbs (well LED replacements?)
