Dear xxxxxxxxx,

It's about 6 watts draw per bulb.

Sincerely,

  • So you are saying LEDs are no different than any other light? That you wont know if you like it until you put it up? Wait until you buy a bunch and one goes out in a few years and you need to replace or match it up. That's when the fun really begins. I don't care what kind of bulb it is.
  • Incandescent wattage equivalence may haunt the shelves for years. Shotgun shells still list the powder charge in "drams equivalent" referring to how much black powder would give similar performance.
  • Hi Almot,

If the led is the same efficiency then current would be a good indicator of the amount of light. Lumens are the better measure, in my opinion.

We should go by either lumens or current, or by both. Knowing the current, you can guestimate lumens and vice versa. Watts, technically, are same good but can be misleading in where they say "watts" - for LED - instead of "brightness equivalent to N watts incandescent". You can't educate sellers that don't have any education to speak of.

And then there is a notorious over-stating of everything by Chinese makers - lumens, watts, current, you name it. Mex can tell you about his experience with China-direct LED boards that drew 1W when supposed to draw 10W.
  • Lumens are the standard that we should be going by. Not "well, if this is an old incandescent bulb, this is how much current it would draw" stats. Those can be useful, but that needs phased out.
  • They BS those watt equivalent numbers all the time. I go by lumens. If lumens is not listed, I don't buy it.
  • I think what Mexi means
    Here we go again
It can't be 25 watts, if it's only using 6 watts power
So supposedly it's supposed to be equivalent light output as a 25 watt incandescent
