It should ride mounted just fine. But yes, you do want to keep it from moving, or swinging. You want to keep it pushed back as close the mount as possible. Depending how and where it's mounted, you could try spring loaded bars across the front of the television, or bungies, or pretty much anything. You are right, whatever you use, you don't want it to rub the surface of the television.
I purchased the type of mount (flat bar style) that simply hooks on and can be lifted off. We still lay our televisions across our bed, face down, when traveling. With the lift-off type mounts, we can also take either television outside whenever we want to, and makes it very easy to bring them in the house in the winter.
