LEDs on running lights on truck camper

Will they allow more/free up amperage for charging the battery while going down the road?
  • Daytime running lights on an RV? I haven"t seen it. In 13 years with my present fiver, I've never changed a bulb on either stop/tail or clearance lights. Save your money. And the current available? 3/4 amps. I think you worry about nothing.

All of my safety lights on my trailer are powered by the truck alternator setup and start battery and has nothing to do with my trailer batteries being charged...

Converting to LEDs in my case would not give me any gains for charging my trailer batteries.

My trailer does get a minimum battery charge through the Trailer CHG connection on the 7-way connector from the truck side only when the ignition key is ON and when the truck engine is running but it not very many DC amps and is more or less just a top off charge in my case..

My basic trailer battery charge comes from the on-board Converter/Charger unit when powered up by Shore Power or Generator...

My 12VDC Power Distribution Panel for the trailer has no connections going the trailer safety lights.

This is a basic 30AMP configuration for my trailer setup..

  • My coach has always on when driving headlights only. I replaced all of my clearance lights with LED lights just because I like the looks of them :)
