But to be clear it does not completely replace the functionality of a bluetooth enabled BMS. While it will give you SOC, it does not give you individual cell voltages (to check balance), internal temperatures or the ability to adjust any of the BMS settings.

You do have to set the capacity. As I've said before capacity is a moveable feast. So as good as the smart shunt is--it is not determine the SOC accurately even though it does count the amp-hours used. It is a useful piece of kit to own.
